I am an Aggie, class of 1993. I have lived in North Bryan since 2004, but have lived in the community almost 30 years. I am grateful that my own son experienced a wonderful education in Bryan ISD since starting in kindergarten at Bonham Elementary. He graduated from Bryan High School in 2022 and is currently an agri-business major at Texas A&M University, class of 2026. I enjoy spending time with family, doing home improvement projects, showing my horses, and enjoying our many pets.
I am an Associate Dean in the Graduate and Professional School and tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications at Texas A&M University. I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees at Texas A&M University in 1993 and 1994, respectively. I earned my Ph.D. in Agricultural Education at Oklahoma State University before joining the faculty at Texas A&M University in 1999. I was very active in Faculty Senate, serving as Speaker in 2018-2019, Co-Chairing the Committee on Academic Freedom, Responsibility, and Tenure, and serving on the Executive Committee of the Student Success Initiative.
I joined the Bryan ISD Board as an appointment to fill a vacancy in 2016. I was elected to officially serve in Place 2 in 2017 and again in 2020, all contested elections. I have served as the Bryan ISD Board Vice President 2018-2022 and as President since 2022. I have earned over 100 hours of professional development and continuing education credits in my service on the board to ensure I am well-informed and equipped to be an effective board member. I have served on the Inter-Governmental Committee, the Instructional Committee, the Finance Committee, the Parent Advisory Committee, the Superintendent's Advisory Committee, the Technology Committee, School Safety and Security Committee, Teaching and Learning Committee and the Bond Oversight Committee. I volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Volunteer with Voices for Children of the Brazos Valley. I support many local non-profits such as Habitat for Humanity BCS, the Brazos Valley Food Bank, and the Boys and Girls Club of the Brazos Valley.
